Ben—the vet said yesterday—is 8 months old.
She can tell by his teeth.
He went in for his vaccination.
Little chap was not happy to leave in his cat carrier.
What are you doing?—I thought you loved me!
So our little kitten is more of a cat than we thought, albeit a small cat.
He still behaves like a kitten though.
His kitten-like size affords him vantage points from which to launch into fresh scrapes.
From under a chair or chest of drawers–too low for Beau now–two eyes, just visible, peek a look, waiting for the moment Beau turns his back and starts to walk away.
Bad move, Beau!
A small black streak hurls itself into the danger zone–reckless, apparently fearless and is grappled onto its back by a heavyweight, as Beau uses of his superior size to takes advantage.
Things sometimes go too far and it takes a sharp clap of the hands from the “referee” to part the wrestling bundle.
They both draw back–to their “corners” as it were–to wait for the “bell” to start the next “round”–in a game where wiles match weight.
Ben, small in body–for now–is a sweet soul; a cuddler and a nudger.
Beau is more stand-offish–except when it’s time to eat! More of a teenager, reluctant to engage–except in wrestling bouts with his ever eager “brother”.
Those of us who love cats, could always tell that you love cats even if we didn’t know, because your observations describe yours so well. I can see the photos, and the word pictures.
Belated congratulations on the adoption of Ben-ediction Ellis-Wheeler! He is a handsome chap with a kind face, even if he isn’t exactly a spring chicken. My cat Violet stayed tiny and kittenlike her whole long life, which was especially endearing. I think Ben may be cut from the same cloth. And if you ever find yourself pining for more kitten antics, I would be happy to send my Owen over for a visit! I think his name is short for Owen-otherthingbroken!
Congrats on this handsome addition to your feline friendly household.
I recently adopted an older cat whose owner couldn’t care for her anymore, and she turning out to be really funny. She’s talky, and adamant about being given some loving. Cats are just delightful and each in their own way. Ben sounds a riot. He may keep his kittenish ways for a while.
Ben,oh, Ben, what are you doing? Last in…no, just a joke! Robin this keeps you in shape, looking what are they doing right now. Did you get some advice from the vet, is this normal and will it all calm down or is this two boys who are fighting for who will be the boss?
No advice. They are playing I think. Sometimes they forget and get carried away.
Dear Robin,Just find a little time to read the email and reading your mails and pages is really for the moment the best, still busy to clear the very big house of my parents (my father died now 6 months ago) .
Ben looks a nice pussycat.Puske-puske becomes tomorrow 8 or is it 9 years of age (lost counting). Here it’s bad weather rain and it’s getting cold here in Antwerp, winter is coming.Hoping you have warm weather overthere Robin, enjoy la douce France and till soon.Chantal.
Ben is a very handsome guy, but I’ve always had a soft spot for black cats. I so agree that cats can be compared to kids–and that there is definately a teenager stage. Good times at your home!
My mother used to say (we were all girls at home) “Boys always play too roughly and they never know when to stop.” Still, who wants a life without cats?
I have a black cat, Panther, who is now 17 years old. She has never gotten along with other cats. She puts up with them, but is never friendly. Otherwise she has been the best cat ever. You could set your watch to her daily habits.
I’m glad you love cats as much as you do, because they’re so deserving of it.
Beautiful Ben looks so much like the love of my life Dundee (RIP) – especially in profile. Barra is going on 14 years old and she’s still kittenish. She LOVES her laser pointer, but the funniest thing is when she plays with her tail and hisses at it! 🙂
Gorgeous puss cat and what a lovely piece of commentary! Can picture the Tom tumbles completely 🙂
Goodlookin boy! Oh my that cat carrier HORRIFICATION!! And the CAT SCREEMING The whole time you are trying to drive in rush hour traffick and follow directions!! Recently took my Lord Calvert to get shots and fixed. He became a raging BEAST and almost malled me. I had cuts and fur all over Dropped him off at Humane Society before work for the proceedure and I felt like I need TWO BLOODY MARYS just to calm down and start work LOL. Glad you have a little one for Beau. To Play with My older Roxy isnt interested in playing with LC so I have to and its exhausting!! But fixing him has turned him into a lapcat
I thought he looked a little long & lanky for a 5-week-old kitten–that pic where he was stretched out to peer over the wall! (So cute!) He’s already ready for that OTHER appointment–wink, wink, nudge, nudge–before he goes off looking for a date! That could also be the reason for the in-fighting…hormones…even though my boys sometimes still get carried away once & awhile and everyone’s fixed. Little Sassy usually puts them in their places, though! 😉
Cheers & hugs & purrs!
Ben’s “visit” scheduled for tomorrow, M tells me!
It’s true that Beau although aggressive when he gets going is not the first to chase–that’s the littl’un.B see after tomorrow.
Ben is a bright little fella.
Awww! He’ll probably liven up even the older cats’ lives. 🙂
He’s found a good home.
