Waking up near the finish line of the Los Angeles Marathon in Santa Monica.
The Pacific Ocean is at the end of our road!
They’ll start this morning at Dodgers Stadium in downtown Los Angeles and run the twenty six miles plus a few more yards east-west to the water’s edge.
They–the everyday runners–will feel exhausted but exhilarated to have made it to the line.
We can sympathize!
Today’s the start of our last full week; tomorrow we head to Palo Alto and San Francisco for two bookstore signing sessions.
The apricot tree outside our window has little pink and white flowers ready to burst into life against the almost cloudless blue sky.
Los Angeles is herself again after the drenching downpours of yesterday which we thought would put a damper on the event at Chevalier’s Books in Larchmont village–Angelinos stay home when it rains we were told.
NOT SO!–enough brave souls ventured out to make it a modest sell out.
This evening–a “poignant” Poldark reunion.
Ross meets Elizabeth again after thirty five years.
We are having dinner with Jill Townsend.
Have a wonderful evening with Jill, I bet you won’t stop talking.
Ross and Elizabeth together again after 30 years..as friends ..how wonderful!
Wow, that’s a nice picture!!(with the blue azur fleece).
You are going to be terribly missed!
I hope you’ll be able to share a photo of you and Jill from the evening (?) 🙂
wow, has it really been that long. I love the work she is doing now with the Council of Grandmothers 🙂 Glad the rain didn’t stop everyone 🙂
Oh my goodness…Ross & Elizabeth. You see, even now, I can feel my hackles rising after all these years, imagining ‘what will Demelza think??’…the power of great television & storytelling! Hoping the end of your trip & the journey home are rewarding and smooth for you both. You will need a good rest!
Robin,
Glad to hear your book tour is doing well , and I wish your Dinner with Jill Towsend is everything you hope it will be. Take Care.
It’s good to hear your LA event went so well, and how cool is it that you get to see your other leading lady after all these years? Jill was so good as the girl we loved to hate as Poldark fans. I hope you enjoy this tour enough to come back soon. By then we will have copies of the new “Making Poldark,” which we will have waiting for you to sign.
Wow, CA looks great this time of year! Surprised you didn’t join them for the marathon! 🙂 It was nice here, too: a record-breaking 80 degrees in NH’s state capital! Saw the first mosquito of the season, way too soon!
My sister was tickled when I brought her a cookbook from New York and has reminded me TWICE to tell you how much she LOVES it–especially the soups! It’s already ‘the way they eat,’ but you’ve opened her cooking to even better ideas! And my newlywed niece’s Italian husband is chomping at the bit to make the puttanesca!
I tried your green bean frittata last week–it was good even without my secret ingredient! 😉 I liked the way you really cook the onions first in olive oil. Tasty!
Pls. send greetings to Ms. Townsend and hope she’s enjoying life–her bio mentioned she’s a teacher now?? But tell her we miss her in the movies!
Cheers & hugs! Safe trip to San Fran!
Neither rain, nor smog, nor threat of sleeting,
Would keep me from my Poldark meeting…
Had a wonderful time! And we made Chicken Breasts in a Spicy Lemon and Parsley Sauce – DELICIOUS!
Thanks again to you both!
I only recently discovered your website but what is so great is that after all this time you are still available to your fans and willing to share your life with them.
I have been having a sort out of my books this week and hidden amongst the Poldark novels I discovered the Poldark Cookbook – the paperback one that came out around the same time as the tv series. Also one that you wrote about “Making Poldark”, and “Poldark Country”
We are having our kitchen replaced and will have a real cooker at last. Might be tempted to have a go at some of the recipes.
