Diabetes awareness is improving!
The supermarket chain, Sainsbury’s, publish a magazine and they recently ran a four-page spread on diabetes…
…which included an interview with me.
It’s a subscription magazine and unavailable free on-line; but we’ve cheated and photographed the interview!
If you click on it, you can test your juggling skill to read it!

A UK diabetes charity* with a monthly newsletter asked me to contribute a piece for the September issue: Diabetes Wellness News Sept 12 0.5

Awareness is all.
The figures are staggering:
There are an estimated 80 million undiagnosed cases of Type 2 Diabetes in the USA and
800, 000 in the UK.
I had no symptoms–but a simple blood test revealed the truth.
My boss has Type 2, and I was thinking of getting your book for him for his birthday (he’ll be 75). Thanks for being such an inspiration for a disease which I feel is very much ignored, and that people think can make their diet boring.
Thanks Kiki–it’s never too late’s my motto!
Thank goodness people are beginning to recognise that people with type2 diabetes need help with their diets. I would recommend your book, not only to those who suffer with diabetes but to everyone who wants a healthy lifestyle. Joan
Thanks Joan. It is possible to eat well and be healthy.
I don’t have diabetes but your recipes are great for living well and preventing it from occurring for the children of diabetics who are at risk of contracting it. The 2 things that will prevent it is keeping weight down and exercise daily.
Yes the incidence of Type 2 in children is growing at an alarming rate.
How wonderful that you’ve turned a sobering diagnosis into a new way of reaching millions of people. First, as an actor, now, as a teacher and cook. I hope the articles sell lots of books.
Millions would be good Elainesl–but thanks!
Generally I don’t care for blogs, but for some weird reason I find yours charming. I loved going to Sainsburys when I was in Manchester for a music festival and enjoyed bringing back cheese and tea to the US.
Thanks, I’m chuffed! Sainsbury’s been in my life for ever.
Robin this is wonderful another way of getting the message out there, most poeple go to the supermarket at least once a week to shop, for them to read about your way of dealing with the beast in such a possitive way will help both poeple with and those who are not diabetics’. I have made your dishes for both and all have bought your book and most have it on ebook as well as I do.
You are the inspiration that it can be done.Your toms on toast from yesterday were delicious, and a surprise for lunch.
