Great! Good idea, I’m trying to get myself going again on regular walking. Tanks again for the inspiration.
Go for it, Penny!
It is shocking how important exercise is for treating Type 2 Diabetes. Why do we always say we’ll start tomorrow? I’m taking it to heart and starting today – my 51st birthday 🙂 with a walk. Thank you Robin!
Happy Birthday, Mary and congratulations! Enjoy your walk and have a great day!
Thanks for sharing this 🙂
Thanks, that was a great, informative, and a fast-paced health lesson. I fall under many categories and am not slim, but I do Zumba, walk, ride horses throughout the week. I know that when I break my routine depression, anxiety, and other health problems return. It’s not always easy at the height of a New England Winter, but once I’ve arrived at my sporting venue, I already feel 50% better. It’s 30 degrees this morning, and even my Lab wouldn’t go near the water, yet I’m on my way to Zumba. I have to keep telling myself. You’re terrific for a 63 -year-old!
Thanks for the reminder and the kick in the butt!
Sheila
Zumba looks good–new to me though. Handy though when it’s 30f outside!
What a punchy piece! A lesson for us all. The best present of all is good health and many of us only realise when we no longer have it. A timely reminder when so many people are likely to over-indulge and cut down on the exercise during the next 10 days or so.
I long for some crisp winter weather instead of all the wet and wind; walking in it is not much fun.
Thank you for all your wonderful postings this year. A very Happy Christmas to you and Meredith and a peaceful and prosperous 2012.
Likewise Sarah-Jane and thank you.
I am a T2 diabetic, and my husband has been diagnosed with early stages of Parkinsons, we were walking almost every day, and when I do not walk I care for my toddler grandson, so though not physically going for a walk all the time, I do keep very active. Sadly, both been hit by a really nasty virus and not been walking last few weeks, though still not particularly sedentary, but the video definitely inspires me to get back on track as soon as we feel able, probably immediately after Christmas! Thanks for sharing this video, as you say it is quite shocking, but well presented. Have a nice Christmas Robin. Also, I am going to try your mushroom soup recipe, it looks delicious.
Just been for a walk–you’ll enjoy it after the break.
Thank you for this reminder
Just watched She Loves Me – my annual Christmas tradition – which I VCR-ed 30 years ago. Suddenly thought I’d look up all the actors to see what they’re doing now and was delighted to find your blog. If only I weren’t simply a meat and potatoes kind of gal. ; )
Since I’m in the US I haven’t seen a lot of your work, but I have enjoyed what I have seen – especially She Loves Me!
Merry Christmas!
You could take a night off from M&Ps!
SLM is a chamber musical well suited to TV.
Thanks–I enjoyed it, though it was a bit of a learning curve!
Every four to six weeks or so I and five other friends get together, we all served together and have remained fast friends ever since, well you know we talk put the world to rights, and just enjoy each other company, but this time was different,it was my turn to entertain so the salmon fish cakes were done and the mackeral pate, plus a couple of bottles of a nice dry chilled white wine,(well it is christmas and there was six of us and none were driving)
Sandra came in looking very mystrious, and cluching a DVD box,she had got a copy of the Good Soldier lovely we all sat down to enjoy you.Robin what a beautiful piece work,it was sheer joy to watch, you and all the cast had six women in total silence.
We all wanted to hate your deceitfull screen wife, along with your friend Edward, but some how just couldn’t dislike him.You pulled us all into your life your pain, your joy and again pain, at the loss of the lovely Nacny who you had fallen in love with, only to decover so had Edward, and then his death. You had six women under your spell, and that believe me is not an easy thing to do, our total ages had up to 380 years.so we are no babes in the wood.Meredith give him a lovely big kiss and hug.
We all would like to wish you both a Very merry and Happy Christmas, and New Year.
along with all you family and friends both human and feline.
P.S. we are all Poldark fans and read your blogs every day, and we all cook from your wonderful cook book.
Thanks for the good wishes and the kind words–very much appreciated, Elaine.
Best wishes to you and Jimmy for a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.
I’m glad you all enjoyed the Good Soldier–though it is the saddest story!
Sadly too I am the only one of the quartet left–the others died far too early.
Say hello to your friends too–what a good idea to get together like you do.
Thank you very much for your Christmas wishes the girls will have read them,
It was a very sad story, I had read the book years ago,and it brought tears to my eyes,I am very sad to hear the other people are no longer here,I did know about Jeremy Brett. My son bought me a copy of the Moonstone some time ago, we have already watched that, maybe it’s time for it to have another outing. When I was about twelve my aunt bought me the book along with the Woman in White I scared myself to sleep at night reading them, but they still are still my favorite books which I still keep going back to.Take care Meredith and Robin have a great time over Christmas & New Year Cheers to you both.
Hey, it must be midnight in France by now! So a great big MERRY CHRISTMAS to my favorite actor and his beautiful wife, and all the kitties, too!! Hope you both enjoy the holidays with family & friends, but I must admit I am jealous if you’re doing the cooking today, Robin! I am, too, for 14 people! (I wonder if that other blogger is doing his Poldark Christmas dinner?) Anyway, nothing too exotic over here in New Hampshire, but plenty of calories involved…! Lots of exercise the day after! Hope it’s a merry, merry!
Cheers & hugs,
Dianne & Gene
Thanks, Dianne and Gene–Merry Christmas to you too there in a white(I imagine) New Hampshire.
Looks simply wonderful and wonderfully simple. I use lemon every chance I can. Can you provide a little information on the cooking pan? Large enough for a whole chicken, and, I imagine it conducts heat well, and has a cover. Happy new year–bonne annee.
oops, sorry about the above misplacement, it was meant as a comment on the chicken recipe!
