When we walked into the courtyard of this house for the first time 21 years ago, there was a double rainbow- it felt auspicious.
Yesterday, a little past the 21st anniversary, this magnificent specimen [caught by Meredith] appeared–reminding us of our luck.
Somewhere over the rainbow,
The skies are blue,
and the dreams that you dare to dream,
This is for our friend Hilton McRae, at present appearing in End of the Rainbow.
A beautiful version of this song, sung bij Eva Cassidy:
It’s good to be reminded of the luck you’ve had, so you’ll never take it for granted.
And when your dreams really do come true, you’re very, very lucky.

v beautiful version–thank you Dieneke.
How beautiful…fabulous video! We had one here this afternoon…and that beautiful but strange yellow light that often accompanies them. Thanks to Meredith too for her lovely comment on my blog, much appreciated & I posted a reply with another suggestion! Hoping there are many more rainbows for you both this Autumn…
Yes, Rachel, it was the same beautiful yellow light here too. I ran around and took lots of photos of the house and countryside because it was all illuminated by this gorgeous light!
Dieneke–what a fab video. Thanks for sharing. How sad, sad, sad that Eva died at 33! She was a gorgeous light too….
Hi Meredith,
Yes, Eva was very, very talented….. so sad she isn’t with us anymore. Did you know that she made beautiful drawings and paintings too?
And her versions of “Red, red Rose” and “Danny Boy” take my breath away. If you don’t know them, you should look them up on youtube…

Too touching mon ami. In contrast, I’m holed up in Aberdeen, the greyest of the grey. Grey sky, grey buildings, surprised they haven’t painted the buses grey.
Even Wagamama has music here while you eat. Please join pipedown.com. And the Handmade Burger Co. won’t cook a burger or steak anything less than medium. Health and bloody (well of course, not so bloody) Safety.

Hi, Robin & Meredith,
Did you find the pot of gold at the end, out in your field? Looks like you can see where it ends!
“Somewhere….skies are blue….” But not here! Was thinking about your lovely “garden flowers” post from recently while I was white-knuckle driving in our FIRST SNOW this evening! (Why do husbands always ask their wives if they’d mind driving at those times?!) Oreo had a vet appointment over an hour away & it started as sleet. By the time we were back home, it was snowing so hard, you could barely see! There were two cars off the road along the way. I think our famous fall foliage, which was at its peak, will come to a drastic ker-plop tonight–maybe along with some branches!
